i want to have more interesting titles for our posts and i saw one person use song lyrics so that's what im gonna do too, hopefully that's not frowned upon here </3 anyways, i might bee getting a tattoo today! it's not for sure i'm just trying to squeeze in after our mom gets her tattoo today (which is for sure happening today) but if i do i plan to get art rock lee tattoo. i fear my rock lee obsession is terminal and to commemorate i have to put him on my body permanently. if i can't get it today then im gonna set up an appointment for a later date so i can get it for sure. i really want to write, but i just keep putting it off and putting it off. it's not lack of ideas but lack of motivation. it just feels like such a chore to sit down and write even though i know i'll enjoy it and i want to do it, i just can't get myself to do it </3 but maybe today. i don't know which of my ideas i want to work on right now but i might just start a few and see which one sticks. it will definitely be naruto or mha fics though, that i can almost guarantee. i want to do some rare pair ships but im not exactly sure how i want to execute them, i did have a dream about one rare pair naruto ship but it was so weird i don't know if the world is ready for that yet... it's also our mother's birthday today! happy birthday to her, and even though she will never see this post and i've already told her irl hopefully she has a good day today. i got her supernatural coasters for her birthday, and a supernatural keychain. i think it's silly that my mother is obsessed with THE fandom ever but has no knowledge of the fandom community online, so i have weird knowledge that even she doesn't know by proxy of being chronically online. hope everyone has a good day! i hope it is very productive for us all and i hope you all get a little treat today too.

everyone in our system has different things associated with them, and sometimes it's hard to figure out what is associated with who and what is associated with just one of us. we've been trying to find a more collective identity for ourselves but that also comes with the issue of trying to understand where things we associate with ourselves starts and with which parts it ends. a really interesting way that i've found us figuring this out is by seeing ourselves collectively as a shapeshifter and then just recognizing which form each of us inhabit the most.

i notice our host has taken an association with cheetahs in a strange way. i'm not sure what that means to them as i am not them, but it is something i've noticed. i myself have noticed i have a strong affinity for wolves and dogs.

there's obviously a lot of overlap and muddy-ness between us, that's just how it's always been for us, so sometimes i do feel more of an affinity for things that aren't "my things" but noticing what things are "my things" vs others things, vs what our true collective things are is interesting and very beneficial to us.

it gives me a sense of self to have things that are just mine and idk it makes me feel better seeing myself separately from the others. i'm still us, in the same way we are all us, but that doesn't take away that i am me too.

anyways, i like wolves, i wish i could be a wolf. i feel like if i was a wolf like would definitely improve 10 folds.

Summary:

They saved the ship. Now everyone wants them dead.

Jacks Harrison and chief engineer Antony Watts avoided a catastrophic collision between their generation ship Peace and their three sister ships that would have killed every human in the fleet. But saving their people came with a cost, and now Jacks and Antony are wanted by the rebellious factions that overthrew Peace’s corrupt governor.

With Peace’s two cities in shambles and neighbor turning against neighbor, Jacks and Antony must fight their way to safety only to find that the people on Peace are still in terrible danger: the ship’s water system is bleeding out, and it’s up to them to figure out how stop it.

Along the way, Jacks must reckon with the violence she finds herself too comfortable with and Antony must confront his past complicity in the corrupt regime. Because Peace doesn’t hand out easy answers, and they both have to decide how far they’re willing to go to ensure they survive.

sorry for my first official post being a vent post but i've just been having such a rough day :(

i had a doctors appointment today and even though it went just fine i was super anxious during it and felt so dissociated afterwards. i took a nap after just to see if i could kick the feeling of bleh but i still just feel so bad. super anxious and irritable and just drained. we've got stuff we're supposed to do today but i am not looking forward to it. it just feels like everything is going to go wrong >~<

i wish i could think of something to do to make us feel better but since i feel so drained nothing sounds enjoyable to do that would normally make us feel better. hopping this feeling goes away on its own or at least we can have a better day tomorrow.

it probably isn't helping our mood that we barley slept last night, but that was something else the nap was supposed to fix. i wish there was just a reset button that could fix our mood. we'd probably be hitting it all the time but at least it would fix things for a little while. </3

so, tumblr is trying to kill itself and I need a new place to yap, and what better place than here! i am too young to remember live journal, but i’ve always loved the feel of old internet from the time of live journal so although this site feels a little foreign to me, i like the vibes here.

you can call me jae!! i’m a 20 y/o plural system. our collective pronouns are it/he/xe. we are collectively aroace and trans. we are a writer and digital artist. our muse at the moment is rock lee from naruto, he is incredibly important to us and we consider him our partner in a ficto/yumeship kind of way.

we write fanfic on ao3 at the username theycallmeyn (active). we also have a pillowfort (active) & a tumblr (mainly inactive).

some of our interests & fandoms are: naruto, my hero academia, homestuck, creepypasta, mcyt, music (skz is our fav at the moment), teen titans, lazy town, fandom history & culture, fear & hunger, animals (dogs, cats, and sea creatures!), animanga, mlp, dungeon meshi, sander sides, art, minecraft, visual novels + so much more!

i don’t know what i really want to post on here, a mix of my random thoughts, my writing, and definitely posts about my lee, but generally anything I feel like posting will go here.

never be afraid to reach out, comments & messages are always welcome and we'd love to yap your ear off if given the chance. also feel free to ask for our discord if you wanna chat there.

We started the year with some major improvements to our bookmark search, making it possible to sort and filter bookmarks by word count, and deployed several batches of fixes to strengthen site security and improve performance. These release notes collect all changes made to AO3 in January.

Shoutout to first-time contributors Juliette Curran, KooShnoo, Mae Light, and sanchal ghosh! Thank you for your work.

Release 0.9.453

On January 21, we deployed some major improvements to our bookmark search, including the ability to filter and sort bookmarks by word count!

  • [AO3-6301] – Series blurbs would list all fandom tags from the works included in that series, even if a work was still saved as an unpublished draft. Now series blurbs only display fandoms from posted works.
  • [AO3-6303] – Series blurbs would also always list fandoms from works that were restricted to logged-in users. We now make sure that if a fandom in a series comes from a restricted work, it’s not listed when a guest is browsing series blurbs.
  • [AO3-6304] – Relatedly, series blurbs would always show up in bookmark listings for a certain tag even if that fandom’s work in the series was restricted to logged-in users. That’s also fixed now!
  • [AO3-6471] – We have added word count information to bookmarks! You can now search, filter, and sort bookmarks by the length of the bookmarked work or series. If a series contains restricted works and you’re not logged in, a series’ word count will reflect only the works that are accessible to you.
  • [AO3-7119] – We tweaked the way search queries work when searching bookmarks, so input is parsed more accurately and a “1k” and a “2k” tag won’t be interpreted as the same tag anymore (for example).

Release 0.9.454

A small grab bag of fixes was released on January 26.

  • [AO3-7264] – We employ certain measures to prevent spam on AO3, such as limiting how many times an action can be performed by a user in a certain time frame. We have now added an option to restrict new accounts more severely than older accounts when it comes to leaving and editing comments.
  • [AO3-7238], [AO3-7262] – We added extra information to the details our spam-checking provider uses to determine if a comment is spam or not.
  • [AO3-7045], [AO3-7060], [AO3-7248] – Some database clean-up and dependency updates.

Release 0.9.455

On January 28, we deployed some of the necessary changes to enable two-step verification for AO3 admin accounts.

  • [AO3-6918] – These changes prepare the login interface for 2FA enforcement to ensure the greatest possible security for admin accounts.
  • [AO3-7249] – Site admins, such as members of the Policy and Abuse committee, frequently need to look up a user’s past usernames and email addresses. To speed up searches while we work on long-term performance improvements, we moved this information to separate tables.

Release 0.9.456

A collection of navigation and display fixes was deployed on January 30.

  • [AO3-6869] – On devices running iOS, footnotes on the Policy Questions & Abuse Reports form were misaligned. Now everything looks tidy again.
  • [AO3-7028] – In one of our public site skins, some pagination links had become unclickable. If you’ve been using the Low Vision Default skin, now you can page through a user’s works in collections again!
  • [AO3-7213] – On narrow screens, the “Suggest a Language” button on the Work Languages page was slipping behind the list of languages and couldn’t be clicked. That’s also fixed.
  • [AO3-7247] – Fixed the broken link to the Fannish Next of Kin FAQ on the Technical Support & Feedback form.
  • [AO3-7251], [AO3-7266] – Some code clean-up.

The YouTube algorithm has seen my interest in figure skating and started offering me classical ballet (I think, always difficult to tell how one gets where one ends up).

So I've been watching bits and pieces of that, as well as all of The Royal Ballet's Cinderella. I therefore offer you some fully random observations, from someone who never got into any kind of dance as a kid, and therefore knows baaaaaasically nothing about the topic. (I have been to several ballets in person, The Nutcracker of course, and the Winnipeg Ballet's Svengali..)

  1. I like classical ballet (I'm not really watching modern) because it's quite ridiculous, and unconnected to anything that has ever happened on the face of the Earth.

  2. I have learned that there's dialogue! Classical ballet has a kind of sign language, done through gestures, so that the dancers can explain plot points such as "We make evil men dance until they die!" and "This lake is made of my mother's tears!"

  3. There does not seem to be much point to the male principal dancers. They have thighs like birch trees, which allows them to leap impressively high in the air, but they don't spin around on nothing but their big toe, which makes them less interesting to watch. Their main purposes seems to be to move the plot along, and act as a "Ballerina holder upper."

  4. Maybe it's just because I'm not good enough at reading the mime, but the romantic dances are... not very romantic. They mostly seem to be the ballerina holder upper holding up the ballerina while she spins around on her big toe.

  5. I don't know if there's non-transphobic/misogynistic way to do the comedy roles where male dancers play female characters, but Cinderella sure didn't manage it.

  6. The plot of Giselle is really interesting (boy meets girl, girl dies when she finds out that boy has a fiancée, girl joins chorus of vengeful ghosts, vengeful ghosts attempt to kill boy, girl saves boy), and I wonder if there have been modern retellings like there have of other old fairytales.

  7. I'm pretty sure the human body is not designed to do any of that.

Which is all I have for now.

I did not mean to let a month go by without posting.

I've been busy lately with getting my book Surviving Peace ready to publish next week--and the subsequent crash after I got everything loaded to retailers, and my brains was like - Done! I'm sorry in advance that I'm going to be posting about it a bunch next week.

In other fun news, I finally finished watching season 1 of The Pitt last week and I'm through episode 4 of season 2. I absolutely love the show and am obsessed. We're shipping Robby and Abbot, right? Because yes please.

On the game front I am working through Hades II, which has been a lot fun. I like that they've put two pathways in. It's really helped with each run to have another option. They've done a really great job with the game and story. I <3 Nemesis and Dora on the companion side of things.

For other tv, Husband and I are watching The Apothecary Diaries. We were coming off of season 1 of Frieren (so much love), so at first we were a little meh, but now we're all in. The hard part is the complicated court politics reveals that happen very quickly so we sometimes have to pause and figure it out. Mao Mao is wonderful though, such a gremlin and I'm here for it.

Currently, I'm reading the third book in a romance series, Just for the Summer by Abby Jimenez. It's good. The whole series has been good. She lets there be obstacles that come from real pain and baggage, which make the third act much more bearable. I think one of my issues with traditional romance beats is that I myself take people at their word in relationships, and I find it so frustrating when a character in their head goes "he says he loves me. but of course he loves his ex not me." And I get that this is a real thing, but it is so foreign to my own thought processes that it drives me nuts. Jimenez's writing makes me much more empathetic to her characters when they do that, because that is very much part of their journey in a genuine way, rather than it feeling forced. Anyway. They're good. I'm having fun.
